About
Community-led walking tours of Kibera since 2009.
Explore Kibera Tours is a social tourism project based in Kibera, Nairobi. Since 2009 we have been running safe, resident-guided walking tours that showcase daily life, community initiatives, and the work of the Power Women group, Victoria Bones craft makers, and Dona Place of Children. 100% of tour fees are reinvested in the community.
What we do
- Half-day and full-day walking tours of Kibera, with a fixed meeting point at Prestige Plaza on Ngong Road
- Group and school visits (6+ guests) led by a dedicated guide team
- Custom visits for media, researchers, and photography — shaped around your interest
- Direct support to the Power Women group, Victoria Bones craft makers, and Dona Place of Children
How a walk works
The standard walk runs daily from 9:00 AM to around 2:00 PM, with a flexible start on request. You meet your resident guide at Prestige Plaza on Ngong Road, outside the entrance of Naivas Supermarket. The route is fixed and known — Kibera is large, but our guides know every corner, and small groups are the norm. You settle the quoted amount with the guide at the end of the walk, in KES or USD.
